The Department of Computer Science and Technology (CST) was established in 1982. Currently the department has students in 4-year Undergraduate (BE), 5-year Dual-Degree (B.Tech and M.Tech), and 2-year Postgraduate (M.Tech) programmes. Starting from the academic session of 2014-15 for subsequent 3 years (that is, upto 2016-17) the department had offered 5-year Dual-Degree Programme in place of 4-year Undergraduate programme.
The department always maintains state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities for advanced research and consultancy. The department was accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) as 'A' grade and received ISO 9000 certification in 1999-2000. The department was also honoured as the DST-FIST sponsored department in 2004. The department was ranked 10 in a nationwide survey conducted by Silicon India in 2012.
